About Maureen Anders

Today's introduction-
Maureen Anders
Anders Ruff Creative Director / Designer / Stylist

Maureen was brought up in Novi, Michigan by 2 interior designer parents. She grew up surrounded by creativity and design and has always had a true passion for creating her own masterpieces. Drawing and sketching, painting and paper crafts, graphic design, sewing and smocking,… the list goes on. Ever since she was a little girl, she had an obsession with paper. It was the only thing on her “wish list” to Santa every year! (She even cried with joy one Christmas after getting a huge stack of various colored cardstock and mat boards from her dad's framer).

Even with her art and design passion, she attended the University of Michigan College of Engineering to obtain a Bachelors in Industrial and Operations Engineering. She began her career with GE Healthcare as a Diagnostic Imaging Sales Account Manager. She met the love of her life during her sales training program, moved to North Carolina and hasn’t looked back!

Woven in between the mathematical equations and scientific principles came design inspiration and attention to detail. More than anything else, Maureen has always been completely fulfilled by simply designing and creating from her random daily inspirations. After she had her first son, Jeffrey, Maureen decided that the stressful and travel filled capital sales career was not going to work and she became a stay at home mom.

She loved staying home with her boys (Jeffrey, 6, and Pierson, 3), but had always needed a creative outlet to keep balance. Maureen started a business in 2006, Posh Papier, where she designed handmade invitations and also took on large scale art projects seen in House Beautiful and Lonny Magazine.

She loved working for herself, but always missed having a partner to bounce ideas off of, to be inspired by, and to collaborate with on late night projects. Maureen’s dream was to meet someone with the same goals, interests and vision. When she met Adria at a random preschool open house, it just clicked and she knew it was meant to be!

Anders Ruff has been a dream for Maureen and every day she wakes up with as smile knowing that she will never "work" a day in her life since this is her true passion.

Maureen’s Favorites:
TV Show: Curb Your Enthusiasm, Entourage, Bachelorette
Fashion Designer: Tory Burch
Hobbies: Graphic Design and Styling (of course), Restaurant Critiquing, Tennis and Zumba
Food: Chicken Picatta with Spinach
Dessert: Cheesecake (Plain with berries)
Random: Self proclaimed OCD – enjoys buying in bulk and several of the same clothing article in various colors.

{Press} Lonny Mag / TRAD HOME Features Tilton Fenwick

Exciting News.... but first... for it to all make sense, story time....

Before Anders Ruff, I was a commissioned artist (Posh Papier was my company). I loved my work and had an amazing experience. Being a commissioned artist opened up the doors to some awesome opportunities.

Suysel Cunningham, an interior designer (and now friend) in NYC, found me on etsy. I had a shop but only a few items in it because of the largely custom nature of the work. Suysel bought a piece from my shop and then commissioned me to design several pieces. One of the pieces was for her upstate NY home.

Well, one of my favorite pieces that I designed was "Big Bang" for Suysel's upstate NY home.

Suysel dePedro Cunningham and Anne Maxwell Foster are the owners of Tilton Fenwick, and are an incredible talented interior designing duo.

Recently they were chosen to be featured in TRAD HOME magazine as "20 New Traditional Designers to Watch". HUGE accomplishment.

The magazine did a photo shoot of Suysel's upstate NY home and WOW, it is gorgeous.
Check out Trad Home magazine (pages 160 is where it begins)

The piece of artwork that I mentioned designing, "Big Bang", is featured in the article and I couldn't be more thrilled to have been mentioned!
Here it is, hanging over Suysel's beautiful couch!

There are SO many other details to share, but you need to check out the magazine to see the full spread.

I feel so lucky to have met Suysel. This past January, I met her up in NYC and helped with her daughter's 4th birthday. I love that I get to work with her on everything from invitations and parties to big pieces of artwork!
Suysel is such a thoughtful, talented and wonderful person.

Working with Suysel ended up leading to me creating a piece for her friend, Ashley Whittaker, that ended up being featured in House Beautiful. I am so thankful.

Suysel and Anne have a great thing going. I LOVE their style and constantly am inspired by their work. Check out Tilton Fenwick online and on facebook. You will LOVE these talented ladies and their style.

Congrats, Anne and Suysel!
"Big Bang" now has an even more special place in my heart ;-)

(PS. Check out their logo below... Gorgeous, right? Read the Trad Home article and see where they used their logo in the home. So chic!)

{Dream} a little dream....

Maureen and Adria are in New York City today at Martha Stewart's "Dreamers Into Doers" event. I wonder what they are doing right now?! Are they chatting with Courtney Dial of Pizzazzerie? Are they trading tips with Kim Stoegbaeur of The TomKat Studio? Are they meeting....MARTHA??? I know that we will hear (and read) all about their trip on Facebook and right here on the blog when they return.

Typically I write up a party to post; however, today, I wanted to share with you one of the most imaginative blogs I have had the privilege of reading, Mila's Daydreams. Mila's mother, Adele, in her own words..."This is my maternity leave hobby. While my baby is taking her nap, I try to imagine her dream and capture it." As I try to imagine what fabulous things Maureen and Adria are up to in the Big Apple, take a peek at what Adele imagines her sweet baby Mila is dreaming of...

Of course all of these photographs are superb. Which one is your favorite? Mine is the baby bunny...

Thank you Adele, for sharing with us your amazing pictures of Mila.

{Straight from the studio} The Anders Family Holiday Card

We have been busy, busy, busy here at Anders Ruff this holiday season! I finally was able to make time to create a custom holiday card for my family! I sent these out on the 15th.... at least they weren't late! ;-)

I am loving hang tags this season, so I thought it would be a great way to send off a holiday card, too! This is a 5x7 hang tag design...

I also created an address wrap label that had the friend/family member's address/name and the backside had a return address seal that coordinates with the front side monogram seal.
I had our professional printer print these (front and backside - the backside has a photo of Cotton, our dog, and the vintage diamond pattern edge to edge.)

I used my big stack paper cutter to cut off the edges to make it the "tag shape". (Hint - if you ever need something done in bulk - Kinkos and local printers have stack cutters that can cut your paper for you!) Thank heavens for my stack cutter - saved me a ton of time.

I then punched a hole in the top red circle and used twine (From The Cupcake Social!) to add the loop at the top.

Here is a pic of the card hanging on our tree....
Not that I expect family or friends to hang these on their trees! Just thought it was cute!

Happy Holidays to all of our fabulous fans, clients and followers!
XOXO
Maureen Anders
