{Giveaway} I Pine for Twine

"Wrap It Up" by the group the Fabulous Thunderbirds was the tune that popped in to my head as I sat down to type this post. Why? Because today's giveaway from The Twinery will have you wrapping things up with twine all of the time!

Before we get down to the business of the giveaway, we wanted to share with you a little bit about The Twinery and owner Nicole.

How The Twinery came to be: The Twinery all started because of a personal need...a personal preference, really. I had a small business and I used baker's twine and ribbons to tie up my products. My products were colorful...bold...vibrant...and often found itself into the hands of little ones and I wanted the packaging to be just as creative and colorful and attractive. I loved the idea and concept of baker's twine...it's fun, it's nostalgic, it's reminiscent of simplicity with a twist of fabulous! After much searching and researching on various websites, forums and even at local crafting get-togethers, I realized that others were wanting the same thing I did - happy, fresh colorful string to tie up their baked goods, to use on their scrapbook pages, to use in their product packaging, to use on their party goods, brides wanted it to use on their wedding invitations, boutiques wanted to offer it to their clients and on and on the list went. We were all searching and coming up empty handed. There was baker's twine on the market...but nothing like I wanted...nothing like the crafters I talked to were looking for. It took many, many months of planning, saving, designing and waiting...did I mention lots of saving and planning?! It was no small feat, but I was able to create a type of baker's twine that everyone was searching for...and I'm so proud of the way things came together and I'm so ecstatic that so many fans and customers love this silly string as much as I do!

About me {Nicole, the owner of The Twinery}: I'm a wife and a mom - the first two most important "jobs" in my life! I have the most supporting and loving husband anyone could ask for...he even helps me package up twine orders! My two children are my pride & joy - both mommy's little helpers - they are smart, funny and remind me everyday how blessed I am that they are in my life! I was born in the Chicago area and spent most of my young childhood there {it holds a special place in my heart}...then my family moved to a small town in Wisconsin right near Milwaukee and Madison and I spent the rest of my childhood days, high school and even college years and beyond there - I had a wonderful childhood...it was full laughter, happy memories and creativity! I think that's what drove me to getting a degree in Early Childhood Education and teaching preschool for a number of years before taking the plunge into the handmade crafting market! Creativity was instilled in me at such a young age...I remember watching my mom sew, paint, draw, make and bake...it was inspiring and I knew I wanted to be just like that!

{DIY} Reindeer & Candy Cane Crafts

{DIY} Reindeer & Candy Cane Crafts

So, we came across this cute kids craft idea we want to share with you from Amazing Moms.

Looking for a fun Christmas craft to do with your kids?

Well who doesn’t like Santa’s Reindeer? This is an easy and cute craft to do with little kids. It is a reindeer pot that can hold candy or other treats! You can make any size that you want. All that you will need is scissors, craft glue, Terracotta clay pots (2”-5”), plastic eyes, red pom-poms, and two shades of brown craft foam or construction paper. Now that you know what you need, here is how you make it!

First, with one shade of brown, cut the antlers to match the size of your pot. (It is fun to use your child’s hand print as the pattern for the antlers!)
Then, cut the ears with the other brown.
Attach their ears to the back of the pot, and then add the antlers.
Glue the eyes and nose to the front,
Finally, fill the pot with candy, nuts or other goodies!

It is that simple!

Another fun craft to make is Candy Cane Ornaments!

This is a unique craft that is very easy!

All you need is 13 old puzzle pieces [maybe ones from a puzzle that is missing some pieces], glue, ribbon, red and white paint, and a bell!

First, paint the puzzle pieces on one side and let it dry, then do the other side. [In the example they painted 6 pieces red and 7 pieces white.]

Then, place the white pieces in the shape of a candy cane a little spaced out.

After that, glue the red pieces over lapping the white ones. [like it is in the photo]

Once it is dry, cut a piece of ribbon, loop it, and glue it to one side of the candy cane. Also, cut another piece of ribbon to make into a bow, and glue it as seen in the picture above.

Finally, glue the bell down and your ornament is complete!

We found this craft at Family Crafts.

{DIY Recycle Project} Colorful Cork Mobiles by Jen

Jen, from efootprints.com (I posted about her blog and shop awhile ago... fabulous)
has some of the most creative crafts out there. Not only for kids - for big people, too!

She recently posted about a creative way to recycle wine corks. (We could all use a little recycling crafts in our lives, right?) I just love the way she used corks to create bright, fun, modern mobiles! Oh, and these would be cute for parties, too! (and nearly free!)

For me, I'd have to get someone to drink the wine since I'm not much of a drinker, but I have plenty of people around me (clears throat) who would love to polish off a bottle of wine that I uncork.

Use a needle and thread and hang on bamboo sticks....

Go check out her blog for better instructions ;-)
Jen, you are the MOST creative!

By the way, check out her etsy shop, too! (Amazing handmade dresses and patterns!)
(her blog is here)
