{Anders Ruff Parties} Rainbow Arts and Crafts Party

Our own fabulous Caryn Johnson planned a super fun party for her daughter's birthday party. Elyse was turning 6 and loves rainbows and painting/arts and crafts. Caryn decided she wanted to have a rainbow painting party for Elyse.

When she told me the theme, I jumped on board to design something fresh and unique. I love bright colors (as does Adria), and we knew this would fit right in the shop, too!

The party was held at Art Space Studio, a local pottery and painting studio. I love the space because it is fresh/clean and modern with an "open" feel to it. (A lot of those places feel like your grandma's basement - icky... not this one!)

The party was held in a private room and so there had to be a dessert table, of course! Caryn and I worked on prepping the layout at home the week before and then it was a breeze to set it up once we got to the space on the day of the party.

We used most of the items included in the new Rainbow Arts and Crafts printable collection that is now in our shop. Can't wait to share more....

Caryn hung the banner from the backdrop. Since the table was not huge, she opted for a smaller banner that just said "Elyse is six". I had found this fabric at Ikea a long time ago and it matched the set perfectly!

Have you seen this wrapping paper (on the boxes) at Target? Caryn found it before we started designing the paper graphic collection and we decided to use the exact colors and similar patterns for the collection.

Mini chocolate bars were wrapped with fun printable wrappers that said different colors and reflected that color on the graphic.

This was one of my favorite elements at the party - The cupcake presentation.
I had leftover paint pallettes from my son's party a couple years ago and so we decided to use them as pallettes for the cupcakes!

The kids got to paint their own cupcake with rainbow colored candies.
We used printable cupcake toppers for the fun rainbow cupcakes (when the kids bit into the cupcake, the cake was layers of rainbow colors). Of course, the "cloud" icing was needed on top of the rainbow.

The kids loved decorating/painting their cupcakes - and the palettes made it even more fun for display.

The dessert table also had various candies that the kids could fill their treat bags with at the end. Printable color labels were placed on the vessels with colored candies. (arranged like a rainbow, of course!)

Caryn bought mini water bottles and refilled them with red, yellow and blue Gatorade and labeled the bottles with our printable drink wrap. The kids went ape over it!

The birthday girl had her own special cake that Caryn made for her. (Rainbow cake, again!)

We displayed cute rainbow colored lollipops on the dessert table with coordinating printable sticker labels.

The favors were boxes of crayons (wrapped with a printable crayon wrapper), and sets of paint for the kids.

We found these rainbow colored twisty straws at the dollar store and snatched them up because all kids LOVE those, right. They made cute centerpieces, too!

Here is a shot (dark photography, sorry!) of the door to the party - printable party sign alerted the children where to go for Elyse's party.

One of my favorite things - wrapping paper. The wrapping paper that Caryn bought at Target was perfect to dress up the neutral tables that were in the space. We ran a runner down the table and then a smaller runner of the contrasting paper pattern. It looked really nice in there!

This theme is perfect for any time of year! I loved helping with this party - so many easy ways to make it all "come together!"

{Adria and Maureen} NYC/ Martha Here we Come

This photo was from when Adria and I were in NYC in December for the party Zulema was holding for Nick's 50th birthday. (You will see the photos this week! Amazing!) We loved helping set the dessert table and meeting Zulema and her sister at the party, Yesi (who is also a super fabulous client of ours)!

We just had to get a pic in front of Martha's studios - hoping that we would be back someday soon!.... (Thanks, Suysel, for taking the pic!)


Well, we are headed BACK to NYC on Dec 17th for the Martha Stewart Dreamers into Doers 2011 event. We are so excited to attend this workshop! We get to meet some fabulous party people that we network with every day online.

I was dying to share these photos that Nicole took over the styled dessert table.

We designed the printable graphics for this event and I just LOVE the
creativity that Nicole displayed in her styling.
The table immediately reflects a music/DJ theme by just adding a few creative serving "vessels".

Charynn (of Two Sugar Babies) designed these fabulous fondant cupcake toppers. (Remember her amazing work for our holiday collection photo shoots?)
Could she get any more talented? If you haven't thought of using fondant... you need to! You can get or make some plain yummy cupcakes and dress them up with Two Sugar Babies fondant toppers that go with your theme.

{Press} DJ Music Themed Birthday Party

{Featured Clients} Bringing in the New Year beautifully!

Today we are showing off another fabulous client dessert table from New Year's Eve!

Pauline, of Australia, sent us these stunning photographs from her New Year's Eve styled table. We are LOVING the entire look of this table.

Pauline is the Director of The Party Studio (an online boutique selling party wares) and designer/director of Sophisticated Yum (a sweet event styling and design service). Pauline calls herself more of a 'savoury' girl, but loves scouring the internet for gorgeous looking desserts and tables and when she has spare time. (She loves to check out the delights Sydney has to offer).

I think she did an amazing job and has some really great ideas!

She used our printable papers to create those backdrop circular decoration motifs!

I love how she used frames as serving platters! Brilliant!

She did such a great job and we asked her for a statement about the table and how she put it together so nicely.

Below, Pauline talks about her inspiration and the execution of the table...

"I carried a piece of ribbon with me so that the table runner could match perfectly. I also wanted to use different types of black and white ribbon to add texture to the different elements. The look I was after was modern with a touch of vintage glam. The mini chocolate wrappers I used to cover mini menthos rolls. I also found some baubles in the perfect shade of teal and used these as decoration and also at the base of a vase filled with sparklers. I used some black frames as platters which framed the mini bite sized macarons and shortbread perfectly. These were lined with the Anders Ruff papers. The papers were also used to make the wall decorations. I chose to use the flags to decorate little kraft boxes that I filled with a pencil and a NY resolutions card for people to write in their NY resolutions. They could also use the box to fill up with goodies to take home."

Mon Trèsor Designs a Delectable Dessert Table for New Year's Eve

It always fascinates me how the internet brings together people from all over the world. Case in point is Suzanna, proprietress of Mon Tresor (my treasure). Suzanna lives in Sydney, Australia, where she is a mother, a wife, and a teacher. But wait, there’s more. In her own words, she “loves all things girly, ruffles and styling dessert tables, and I love to bake.” Mon Tresor and Anders Ruff Custom Designs are seemingly a match made in...the world wide web.

Suzanna created a fabulous dessert table featuring our New Year’s Printable Design Collection. Her table was featured yesterday by Tanya of Save the Date for Cupcakes and we wanted to highlight the pictures on our blog as well. Take a peek:

Suzanna designed her table around the our New Year's Printable Design Collection . For the backdrop, an elegant Victorian/baroque style silver and black backdrop was used to add glam. Fanciful fuchsia and aqua poms added pops of color to the silver and black fabric.

Suzanna featured bars of milk chocolate covered with our mini candy bar wraps.

Glass apothecary jars were filled with Lindt chocolate truffles in raspberry pink, black jellybeans, and sugar coated almonds.

Circle party logos served as cupcake toppers, and tent style fill in tags labeled the vanilla cupcakes. Suzanna embellished the fill in tags with miniature crystals.

Flag labels adorned the lemon cake pops. Suzanna also baked vanilla mud cupcakes.

The fill in tent style tags along with the patterned paper added a special touch to all of the desserts, including these mouthwatering macaroons.

What a great way to incorporate good luck wishes for the New Year! Fortune cookies dipped in white chocolate were sprinkled with pale blue sparkled sugar.
