{Featured Clients} Happy Bee Day Robert!

Rachel {a super mom client of ours} planned her son, Robert's 1st bee day.

Rachel was inspired by the bee day that I had for Pierson when he was 1. Oh, how the time flies - that was almost 2 years ago and I can't bee-lieve it! She hired us to design the printable graphics for Robert's 1st bee day - it was a lot of fun working with her!

I love seeing our client's parties that are inspired by the parties we have created. They always come up with something fun and unique and Rachel did an amazing job coordinating the perfect bee day!

Lots of fun eye candy to share. Thanks so much for sharing photos of Robert's special day, Rachel!

Rachel had us design an invitation that was similar to the handmade ones that I created for Pierson's 1st Bee Day....
We have this one below available in the shop, too...

Rachel had cute decor all over the party. I love the meaning of this signage.... "So much nectar, so little time". That is kind of how I feel all of the time! For me it is more "so many ideas, so little time". If I accomplished everything that I have on my "idea" list, I'd need to live to be 180!

Now, to the party photos... Look how cute Rachel's setup is!I love the bee pinata and the yellow and black tissue poms that she uses all over!
I saw these mylar bee balloons when I was shopping for Pierson's 1st bee day and thought they were adorable.... my favorite are the black balloons with white polkadots!

Her centerpieces are so cute and fitting.... Check out her honey bear containers, inspired by Pierson's 1st bee day favors...
We designed a custom printable banner for her and used honeycomb patterns to decorate and vary each letter...
Adorable drink canister....

The treats and sweets table looked so adorable!

The cupcakes looked so delish - adorned with cupcake topper logos that we designed. The favors look so adorable, too!Her cake looks like a real hive and I love the cookies!

Rachel used the party logo that we designed to personalize the cups (my favorite thing to do!)
Cute little goodie bag station and the plasticware looks so cute all lined up in the basket with the party logo in front. Favor tags shown below were personalized with each guest's name.

A closeup of the honey bear containers and the cupcake toppers...

She even made PB Honey bees, as seen at Pierson's bee day! She did an awesone job!
These things are SO yummy (picture a reeces pb cup but with crunchy goodness of graham crackers inside).... MMM!
Look how adorable Robert is on his bee day!

Rachel did an awesome job - top to bottom! Thanks for bee-ing so sweet, Rachel!

Bee Day printable design collection is available in the shop!

(Featured Clients} Ty's First Bee Day!

Tara, an awesome client of ours, shared photos from Ty's 1st Bee Day. I was so excited to see her party... she had been planning for awhile and hired us to do lots of graphics. She pulled it off perfectly! She had seen Pierson's 1st Bee day here on the blog and so we focused on adorable black/white/yellow graphics for the party.

Tara sent out a customized bee day invitation she had us design from our shop. We also designed an address logo and graphic for the front of the envelope. She had a printer print directly on the envelope - looks so nice! Also, check out the thank you note that we designed after the party (2nd image below) - isn't that photo just the greatest w/ their sweet dog, Mattie, in the pic?!

You all know that houndstooth is one of my favorite patterns, right? I just LOVE her use of houndstooth in the party. (Remember Pierson's 1st Bee Day? Tara used the fabulous Hobby Lobby wrapping paper, too!)

Tara had all of the details planned, including what Ty wore. Ty looks so adorable in his little personalized outfit. I just love it! See the photo of him by the balloons - check out the adorable bee ride on toy. LOVE IT!

Tara bought a food card graphic from our shop and she personalized them with cute words for her food... Check out her menu:
-"Bee Wings" (Chicken Wings)
-"Bee-r" (beer - in the right color scheme, of course!)
-"Bee-Bee-Q" (Pulled pork)
-"Baked Bee-ns"
-Fruit w/ honey yogurt dipping sauce
-PB Honey Bees (remember those!? - SO GOOD! Tara said she loved them, too!)
-Bee Hive Cake
-Hive & Bee Sugar Cookies (my FAVORITE!)

Tara had a lot of great ideas that didn't get photographed. She had various sizes of large yellow paper lanterns in the backyard. (CUTE idea!) She had yellow bubble containers for the kids to play with.

Favors are my favorite part of the party planning... look how adorable her favors turned out! The honey bears are my favorite!!! (Custom logo favor tag and honey bear logo designs in our shop) She filled those sweet honey bears with tootsie rolls and organic cereal in the ones for the little guys... Gotta stick with the color scheme! ;-)
She wrapped up coloring books for the older kids and super cute bee books for the little guests. (I LOVE the idea of books for favors!)
I just have to share her feature table again. She had us design a custom banner for her party and I love how she hung it.... The tiered look is just SO cute in this setting, when you don't want to string it super long. LOVE the hive cake and you can see Ty's adorable bib (that coordinates, of course) on the table.
Look how cute their family is! Tara's hair bow is just TOO cute! Isn't Ty a sweetie pie!?

Thanks for sharing, Tara! I'm so glad we got to "bee" part of helping you accessorize Ty's sweet party!

{Straight From The Studio} New DIY party packages on our site!

We have had a great response to our "Do it yourself party packages" that we introduced to our shop.

We have the two train packages, a circus/carnival package, sports package, bee day package and now, Alice in Wonderland package.

Check them out! A very economical way to do a fully coordinating party!

A fully customized Train Package includes everything you need to coordinate a fabulous choo-choo party. That includes fully customized items -invitation, thank you note, water bottle wrap, napkin/partyware wrap, party logo, 4 cupcake toppers, address label and favor tag!

On an even tighter budget? We have a DIY Train Package without customization. Still a great option!

Then, we have the sports themed package:

This one has my heart bee-cause I spent hours planning "Pierson's First Bee Day" last year. This fully custom "bee" day package was inspired by that party:

My favorite set, the circus set (I am bound and determined to have a circus party for my boys one year!) We had an amazing client send us her photos from her event. She did everything custom, though!

and the awesome new Alice and Wonderland DIY package!

We hope you enjoy!

I would LOVE to hear from you about what packages you would like see us offer!

{Straight From The Studio} Pierson's 1st Bee Day Party

Pierson's 1st "Bee" Day was Bee-yond fun. So you caught me, I planned his party 6 months early.... I am a bit of a overachiever when it comes to being prepared and planned ahead of time!

#1 Priority: Invitation: Had to have a cute way to get the "buzz" out about his party! at www.AndersRuff.Etsy.Com, we can create a completely custom invitation for your party! Many more designs to come - if you are interested in the bee party invite, let us know!

It reads:

Have you heard the buzz?

Pierson is going to bee 1!

Join us at the Anders Hive

for Pierson's Bee-day celebration

Address/date etc

It'll bee the sweetest place to bee!

Buzz the Queen Bee to RSVP

Bee-bee-que and Bee Hive Cake to be served

#2 Priority: Outfit:

I appliqued a bumble bee on top of a black/white gingham jon jon that I made for Pierson. The lining is a soft yellow and white plaid and it has white pique piping. The yellow buttons have little white polka dots going around the circumference.

I also made him a bib (for the cake mess that was about to occur). I used a yellow hand towel and cut a neck and sewed in a t-shirt collar. Then I appliqued the number 1 in black/white gingham to match the rest of his get-up.

I almost forgot Priority #2.5... Cotton's outfit. Yes, my dog had a bumble bee costume on. He looked so pitiful, but I loved it. He was just humping stinging and buzzing kids all over the house, left and right. He looks so sad, but I think he was happy.

#3 Priority: Favor (of course): I decided to use empty honey bear containers for a "sweet" part of the kiddie favors. I filled them to the top with Earth's Best Organic Smiley Cereal for the babies and Tootsie rolls and Butterfingers for the older kids. (black and yellow packaging was key!).

Then, I topped each honey bear off with a party hat that had paper shred for the pom pon, ribbon around the base, slapped the kids name on the hat, and put a little personalized sticker on the front of the honey bear that said "Thanks for Bee-ing so sweet... Pierson's 1st Bee Day - 1.30.2009"

Use our CUSTOM logos to personalize and make all your detailed party favors more special!

For the toy part of the favor, I wrapped up books for the children. The babies each got 2 chunky board books (by Bright Baby), and the older kids got a book by Eric Carle.

I used the most fabulous wrapping paper, houndstooth!!! Black and white. I found that and almost had apanic attack (I am being completely serious) at Hobby Lobby over Christmas. I mean, how perfect?

Each gift had a circle giant tag with the child's name personalized. It says "Thanks for buzzing by to bee here for Pierson's first bee day". Ok, I went a little overboard using "bee" in place of "be". Wrapped with yellow and black raffia.

Baby books (above). Toddler books were larger (below)

Look at the happy bears just waiting to be handled by all the kids that were there!

The centerpieces were the honey bears, too!

Then, of course, I had to send home a sweet confection for the road. I know most people opened it on the car ride home and devoured those sweet little bees!

Like the glass shaped hive (courtesy, Kristin) that we put bumble bee stickers on. Thanks, Kristin!

#4 Priority: Food: We had an array of foods, theme appropriate, of course.

Menu:

Bee-bee-que (with buns if the guests wanted it on a sandwich)

Cole Slaw

Baked Bee-ns (Kristin's famous)

Fruit cups w/ honey yogurt dip

Bumble bee Nectar (Lemonade punch)

Bee-r (J found the most perfect beer, it had a yellow wrap w/ a huge bumble bee on the front of the bottle!)

Bee and Hive Sugar cookies

P.Bee Honey bees (can't even describe - yum)

Bee-bee-que. Not the midwestern type bbq. (When I first moved south, I thought bbq was when you put chicken on the bbq. Totally different down south...in a better, fattier kind of way)

My mom and I were up the night prior until 1 am shredding this dreaded pork butt bbq. I had never made it, ever. We decided to go all out and do it ourselves. Bought 30 pounds of pork ass and roasted that pig right up... all day long. By 2 am it was shredded and ready to go. We split it into 2 crock pots - one was plain (just some vinegar sauce to keep it moist) and the other had the mustard based sauce.

Turned out scrumptious! We had 3 sauces (in honey bear containers, of course). Red sauce from Mac's BBQ in Charlotte, Mustard from Maurice's BBQ, and The Q-Shack vinegar based.

Bee and Hive Sugar Cookies

Priority #.... Well, lets start back at 1: CAKE

I was bound and determined to not have to buy that $40 William's Sonoma cake pan. That would have been too easy. So I did a 3 layer cake, with a dome cake (from Jeffrey's previous birthday where we had sports balls cakes) on the top. It was actually very simple.

Dr. Oeteker Organic cake mix, my favorite. Layered chocolate/vanilla/chocolate/vanilla so when that hive was cut into it looked like a striped bee!

The bumble bees on top were chocolate covered almonds with almond wings and yellow frosting stripes.

Placed the cake on a black/white Houndstooth covered cutting board. Yes, the houndstooth that I almost had a panic attack about at Honny Lobby. (I won't tell you how many rolls of that paper I purchased that year. Hey, its an investment)

I also made a small hive cake for Pierson to crush. J's mom, Vicki, had her birthday the day of the party (Jan 31!) as well, so we I made her a cake of her own!

To my mom, Kathy, for taking my orders.... some call me "host-zilla".

With all the chaos, this was the only family photo we GOT! Oh well! There is always next year.

J's mom was the birthday girl, too.

The guest of honor. Pierson Burke. Otherwise known as Peanut. (He was smiling at Auntie Claire)

May the bees be with you.
